. At first glance, this moon system isn't the most exciting in the solar system, but the strange tilt of Uranus' rotational and magnetic axes would make life on these moons DIFFERENT. Search for what is unusual and unique here, and you can have a very interesting story. Be sure to look up and understand the significance of "synchronized orbits". It would also be VERY important to your lifeforms.

How many moons does Uranus have? How are the moons created? How are the moons named? etc.

Uranian Moons

Story: Hola, my fellow aliens. My homeland is Titania. This is the largest Uranian moon, and the best place ever. Therefore, it should be easy to see. Its size and climate works well with the citizens. Also, there are many other neighboring moons, which have similar geological features on the atmosphere. And it is a good place for visitation.

Titan, a resident on Titania, always wondered if it was named after him.

"Santiago!" screamed Titan.
"You think our moon is named after me?" asked Titan.
"Of course not doofess. Titania is named after the strongest and greatest character from Shakespeare."
"Can't believe Titania is the largest Uranus(Yur-an-us) moon."
"No, it's Uranus(Yur-rin-us)."
"What's wrong with Uranus (Yur-an-us)?"
"That means anus you gorilla."
As Titan wandered off in his thoughts,he wondered about other moons.
"Is it all the same size and look the same way?"
As the day went on, Titan had a weird dream during his nap.
"Where am I," he wondered.
He knew he wasn't alone when he saw a footprint. Titan went off looking for aliens and other life forms.
He noticed that it was twice the size of Titania. And it had so many craters. It's umbelieveable.
"Am I really semi-floating?"
Titan enjoyed the weather so much.
"Why the weather at home couldn't be like this? Santiago and I have to walk so far, to the sunny side,to recieve good weather. But at least, we always have a sunny side on the moon."
"Wake up!" shouted Titan's madre, "Santiago is here."
"What a dream!" thought Titan.
"Titan, do you want to go play futbol in Jessica," asked Santiago.
(Jessica is one of Titania's crater and is also named after the characters from Shakespeare.)
Jessica was the nearest spot to play. And the weather was so calm.
There were no thunderstorms or collisions and the weather was around 60 Kelvins.
"Santiago, I can't wait to see the other apes from the other moons."
"Igualmente, but I hope we don't collide with anything. The surface is already bad from the past.
It will be hard to play futbol.
"Well, lets enjoy our weather before another storm comes."
"Titan, Titan! What is that?"
"Are they aliens?" asked Santiago
"I don't know. Let's go home! Andale!"
"Madre, there's something strange outside," cries Titan.
"What are you talking about child?"
"Outside! There's something metal looking outside. It's huge mom with bright lights."
"Titan, it went away," called out Santiago, "It's going the opposite way towards Merianda."

(Titania retrogrades)

"Mom, what was that?"
"It was a spacecraft. It probably came near us because Titania is the largest Uranus moon. Don't ever go near strange objects Titan!'
"Okay mommy."

Thus, as Titan wonder about the world around him,he wondered about his own homeland. Is there life beyond Uranus's orbit? Though Titan is amazed by the outside world, he appreciates Titania. "I'm glad Titania has a lot of tourist." It allows Titan to study the universe and know he's not the only life form. Titan is a beautiful moon. Its blue glow during the years bring great curiousity to other aliens. Along with its glow, the atmospheric features is still questionable, even to Titan. And whether Uranus(yur-an-us) or Uranus(Yur-rin-us), he could care less.¡Vivo los Titania!

  -27 moons
     (21 named, 6 unnamed)
-The moons are organized into 3 categories
(small moons are the inner ones;discovered by the Voyager 2)
     (the large mooons-5)
(outer moons; elliptical orbit around the Uranus)
-Radius ranges from 13 km- 789 km
  -Also considered as uranus's satelites
-Uranus's satelites are given names from Shakespeare and Pope's writings.
-Hershel not only discovered Uranus, but also discovered its two largest
-Most of the moons surface (Bianca) are made of ice and rock.
-Uranus's would be almost considered laying on its side when compared to
Earth, which will explain why the moons in the picture is different from how
   other moons orbit its planet.
(Uranus's pole is almost directly facing the Sun.)
-All of its moons would have a side that face the Sun. When the moons revolve
around the planet, it will have that same side facing the Sun.

    -Has Cliffs
-Theory: other moons warmed Miranda causing the cliffs.
    -Smallest Uranian moon
    -Visble to Earth
15.Ariel Lassell

Flying by in early 1986, Voyager 2 captured this picture of Miranda, which enabled scientists to study this moon of Uranus in much greater detail than ever before. Discovered in 1948 by Gerard Peter Kuiper, Miranda is named for the daughter of the wily Prospero in Shakespeare's "The Tempest." It is the eleventh known satellite of Uranus and the innermost large moon of Uranus It was necessary that Voyager 2 passed by Miranda, not for scientific reasons, but simply for the gravity assist it needed to go on to Neptune. Due to the position of the entire Solar System, Miranda provided the energy to throw Voyager 2 to Neptune. Before Voyager, Miranda was largely ignored as it is not the largest moon and did not seem to have any other outstanding qualities. Fortunately, however, Voyager passed close enough to Miranda to provide scientists with fascinating photographs that captivated astronomers. About half ice and half rock, Miranda's surface has terraced layers that indicate both older and new surfaces coexisting. Since the mixing of ancient and recent surfaces is rare in planetary geology, scientists have postulated two explanations for the different ages of the numerous valleys and cliffs on Miranda. One theory is that Miranda could have shattered as many as five times and was then reassembled. Another hypothesis is that partly melted ice upwells forced new surfaces to emerge.[2]

I added this because it's an interesting picture. That doesn't mean that Miranda is important. That's your decision to make. --Leesonma 23:27, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
